RRRound Robin Generator Editorial Team
This is a complete generated single round robin for the teams above — exactly what the generator produces in one click.
Fixed at eight participants — rename Team 1 through Team 8 to your clubs, crews or players. Empty names keep their numbers, duplicates are flagged but allowed.
The 8 team round robin schedules every pairing exactly once: 7 rounds of 4 matches, no byes, no team playing twice in a round.
The result prints as a clean round-by-round sheet, copies as text for your group chat, and exports as CSV with all 28 fixtures.

Eight departments or offices make a natural bracket. The round robin format guarantees each team a full day of play rather than an early knockout exit.
Choose your drama: one all-play-all 8 team round robin, or split into two 4-team groups. The single group keeps all 28 pairings in one table.
Eight-team groups mirror pro formats. Generate the schedule, paste it into your channel, and track scores round by round until the standings settle.
Eight players on two courts is a standard session size — the round robin rotates everyone through seven rounds of play with nobody idle.
An 8 team round robin schedules each of the eight teams against the other seven exactly once: 8 × 7 ÷ 2 = 28 pairings, organized into 7 rounds of 4 matches each. Eight is even, so there are no byes.
Twenty-eight matches sounds like a lot until you spread it across courts: on four courts each round is a single 20-minute wave, and the whole event completes in seven waves — roughly two and a half hours. On two courts, plan for fourteen waves or trim the format.
The generator keeps every round internally consistent: four simultaneous matches covering all eight teams, with pairings rotating so that after seven rounds every possible matchup has happened exactly once. The order is deterministic, so reprints always match the original sheet.
Toggle the double option and the schedule grows to 14 rounds and 56 matches: every pairing played home and away. As a weekly league that is a fourteen-matchday season — still a reasonable commitment for most amateur leagues, with each team playing 14 matches (7 home, 7 away).
For single-day events the double format is usually too much; organizers wanting more matches per team typically prefer the single round robin followed by placement playoffs for the top four.
The arithmetic is simple: matches needed ÷ courts available = slots per court. Four courts × seven rounds means each court hosts exactly seven matches — at 20 minutes plus changeover, about three hours of play. Two courts stretch the same event to seven rounds of two slots, which usually means shortening match times.
Whatever your court count, the round structure does the scheduling for you: start all matches of a round together, finish the round, then start the next. No team ever has back-to-back confusion because nobody plays twice within a round.
The 8 team round robin (28 matches) maximizes fairness and total play. Two 4-team groups (6 matches each, 12 total) maximize speed. The middle path many organizers like: two groups of four round robins, then finals using the group standings — fewer matches than the full round robin but more knockout drama.
Choose the full round robin when the ranking must be beyond doubt — league days, qualifiers, ranking events. Choose groups-plus-finals when time is tight and a cup final is the emotional centerpiece you want.
You can generate both variants here: this page builds the single 8-team schedule; the 4 team round robin page builds each group. Run the numbers both ways before committing your venue hours.
Print two copies of the schedule — one at the desk, one on the wall. Announce rounds, not matches: "Round 3, courts 1 to 4" keeps eight teams synchronized without micromanagement.
Record results immediately after each match on the printed sheet or in the CSV (add a score column). With 28 matches, memory is not a results system. After the final round, rank by wins, then head-to-head, then difference — publish the order right from the venue.
One team short on the day? Seven teams still works: switch to a generator count of 7 (available on the main generator page), which introduces one bye per round — or hand the missing team’s matches to a substitute and regenerate with the new name in place.
